This part-printed document certifies that Granville Whitney of Boston, Massachusetts is entitled to Two Shares of the Capital Stock of the American Electric Manufacturing Company. The certificate is dated September 11, 1886 and is signed by the president of the American Electric Manufacturing Company, Edward Goff, and his secretary. A little over a month after this certificate was issued, Edward Goff donated and installed the ten 8,000 candlepower lamps in the torch of the Statue of Liberty for its dedication on October 28, 1886. The blindstamp of the American Electric Manufacturing Company is at the bottom left corner. The verso of the certificate is signed by Granville Whitney and is witnessed by E. 7 x 10 7/8.
