The Golden North Mine (Colorado Lode Claim)
A hard rock lode mine in beautiful Larimer county Colorado. The Golden North Mine is a small adit that was driven into a rich mineralized quartz vein. The mineral vein extends the length of the mine and presents a face of up to 11 wide near the end of the adit. Two small stopes are located in the mine exposing galena, pyrites and heavily oxidized quartz. A large unprocessed mound of blasted mine ore is located below the entrance. Mine dump is showing highly mineralized quartz pieces, smoky quartz and feldspars. A rock hounds dream. Grab samples from the host vein and dump are showing small amounts of free milling gold. Main adit extends 85 into a granite and mineralized mountainside. This mine appears to have been primarily hand cut with very old drills and dynamite blasting. The length of the mine and amount vein material available suggest a one or two man operation. After located in the 1900s and worked for Gold and silver, this mine was abandoned due to low gold and silver prices at the time. Small Gold deposits and hard quartz veins proved unprofitable when coupled with the long trip to the Denver mills for processing. The mine was worked again for a few years in the late 1960in search of Beryl by a local prospector living in the area. Today small free milling Gold deposits can be extracted from the oxidized mineral veins. Gold values can be retrieved from the mine dump and the blasting soil in the adit. The nearby river deposits garnet and beryl gems along the banks of the mine. The property is located near the scenic Cache La Poudre river. Just south of the manhattan gold district. The area surrounding the pourdre river was prospected and mined beginning in the early 1890s. Later in the 1920s and 1960s the area was mined for silver and beryl. In addition to small gold values of the mine, the district offers stunning garnets, tourmaline and beryl gemstones. Wildlife in the area is prolific. Moose, Elk and White tail deer roam the meadows. Wild trout swim the river and creeks. Property is only 45 minutes from Fort Collins and 20 minutes away from the famous Mishawaka theatre. We are the Rocky Mountain Prospectors.
