It was issued in 1904 and is signed by then mayor of San Francisco, Eugene E. Handsome Gene,’ was well-known for being found guilty of extortion and being forced out of the mayor’s office in 1907, a few years after signing this bond for the city. The bond measures about 10″ x 14″ and has a super vignette of a seated woman at the top. The bond has been applied to a piece of card stock, or what was probably some sort of album/archive page for the city. On the back of the card spaces are outlined where it was probably intended for coupons to be glued in.
