This very rare and historic bond was issued by the Government of the Chinese Republic. It is the 8% Loan of 1923 for the Lung-Tsing-U-Hai Railway, payable in Belgian Francs. The face value of the bond without interest was 500 Francs. The beautifully engraved design is nothing less than spectacular, with a very ornate brown border and title with flourishes. There are two large red Chinese “Chops” at the bottom, with 3 hand signatures and additional treasury stamps. The bond has an almost equally ornate central design on the back! This lot consists of the Bond, measuring approx. 10.5″ x 14.5″, plus an even larger, long coupon sheet of approx. 12″ x 15″ with all 42 coupons and amortization tables at the top. Unconditionally guaranteed to be original and authentic! Coupon sheet or bond may have to be lightly folded depending on destination but can be “matted out” during framing.
