Calumet and Hecla Mine medal given for 30 years of service from 1866 to 1917. It comes in its original green velvet lined case. The part holding the medal has come loose from the case. Please see photos for condition. I don’t know what kind of metal it is made of. It is approximately 2 1/2 in diameter. Great gift for a mining collector! Another eBayer has informed me that this medal is not an original medal for service because they were only given out in 1916. This medal is dated 1917. Although this medal is to the same person and for his work at Calumet Hecla it is not an official service medal. It may have been made the following year based on the other medal to recognize MrMcCormick’s 30 years of service. Both medals were from the same estate and both belonged to Mr McCormick but only the 1916 medal is an official Calumet Hecla mine medal.
