The syndicate was formed in 1892 by Mrs. Emmons who served as its business manager and signed the bond as treasurer. Her likeness is also on the bond. Bonds were issued, and investors shared in the profits from the sale of tracts. In addition to the temperance principles, key attractions of the syndicate were ample landscaping and green space. The syndicate brought nationwide attention to real estate projects developed and managed by women. It is a rare bond and the first time I have seen a woman’s likeness on a bond or stock certificate.
