The Series of 1918 issue was briefly released but received limited distribution. All reported examples bear the signature of Postmaster General Burleson but were all used between 1927 and 1934, perhaps reflecting the use of old stock. As you can see this Certificate / Note was cashed in on August 4th 1921 Making it one of the earliest known example of the 1918 note issued. Please be aware this bond is stuck to white stiff paper. Other than the ones I have posted I have not ever seen any 1918 offered? To date only a few have. And only a handful have the state name stamped over the issued in 1918 on bottom right. There are very few of this years certificates that have ever been documented. The item “1918 $500 US Postal Savings System Certificate Extremely Scarse” is in sale since Wednesday, July 4, 2018.
