Here you have one of the most sought after of all Mexican bonds, the 1908 Series A Issue of El Banco Central Mexicana, the Central Bank of Mexico. It is datelined Mexico City, January 2, 1908! Exquisitely engraved in several shades of green with overprinted black lettering and designs, the entire face of the bond is filled with a panoramic image of palm trees and mountains encircling a large tranquil body of water. The Mexican Eagle is perched on a rock, clasping a snake, its wings spread wide, while a beautiful Mayan princess is seated atop an Aztec Mandala with an ancient god. Many other native images and symbols appear in the corners as well as forming the ornate border – simply spectacular imagery! The offered example has a superb uncancelled red Mexican Government Imprinted Revenue Stamp at the bottom as well as an embossed French Revenue Stamp at the left. It has 2 signatures at the bottom. The bond also has 3 rows of interest coupons Nos. 28-60, each engraved with an Indian Princess, while the reverse is imprinted with terms of repayment etc. In both Spanish and English. Serial numbers appear in red. There are NO rubber stamps as often found and NO CANCELLATIONS! Therefore, the bond and coupons are theoretically redeemable.
