Lowe was a staunch supporter of the Confederate States of America, and he moved to Richmond, Virginia during the war. After the war he moved to Brooklyn, New York to work as an attorney at a prestigious law firm, according to Wikipedia. Governor Lowe is mentioned in the song Maryland.
